If anyone would like to learn how to use the race day computer system for registration etc then please let me know as their are some training sessions available at the NCC on Wednesday 2nd May and Wednesday 9th May 2012 at 7:00pm onwards.

On Sunday 6th May, Alex McLean, the North East Go-Ride Coach from British Cycling will be running Go-Ride Mountain Bike races for riders under the age of 16.

Many young riders find it daunting to enter their first race and compete against more experienced riders who are often equipped with the latest bikes and specialist equipment. Go-Ride Racing offers riders under the age of 16 the opportunity to compete in a real race environment against cyclists of the same age and ability, so why not encourage them to have a go!
To sign on for the races, meet Alex at Edmundbyers Village Hall (Edmundbyers, DH8 9NL). All riders will need to sign on by 11:00 and the races will start at 12:00 down by the reservoir.
Race entries will be taken on the day and only it costs £2.00. If riders don’t have a mountain bike then British Cycling has a range of bikes and helmets which riders can borrow for the races.

Immediately after the next North East Go-Ride Track session in Manchester (20th May 12-3pm), Cestria CC have a booking of 3-5pm. There are currently 12 places left on the session and it’s a perfect opportunity for parents who take youth and junior riders down for the 12-3pm session to get up on the boards themselves straight after the youth and junior riders come off the track.

There is always a lot of interest from parents and coaches at the youth track sessions wanting to get on the track so here is your chance! Ken Rutherford will be coaching the 3-5pm session.

£13 deposit will be required (cost for session if you have your own bike and shoes).

If you require bike and shoe hire the total cost would be £28.50.

If any club members aged 10-16 year old would like to take part in a session on the velodrome then please let me know. The sesson is on Sunday 20th May 2012 from 12-3pm and is being run by BCNE. The session costs £10 and this includes bike hire, but you have to make your own way to the velodrome.
• Riders need to arrive by 11.15am to ensure a prompt start.
• Cost of session: £10 per rider
• Bike hire: Free
• Shoe Hire: £4.50 to be arranged at reception on arrival.

As you may be aware the club has secured funding for a track revamp that is due to start soon.

We are now at the stage where we have spoken with the track builder and now we need your ideas. It is your opportunity to let us know what you want on your track. The only parts of the track that has been decided are the start hill, the track will be 4 straights long and the berms will be tarmac. What jumps now go on the track is up to you. Let us know your ideas either on the forum or email me steve@northeastbmx.com, or why not come to a coaching session and discuss your ideas with us.

Anything will be considered,let us know what jumps you like/dislike from other tracks,or you can draw your designs or just tell us verbally We will then send everyone’s ideas to the track builder who will then come up with an overall design.

The club AGM will take place at Summerhill Visitors Centre on Saturday 25th February at 10am. All club members are welcome to attend. If anyone intends to stand for any of the club offical roles please let me know in advance of the meeting.
