Regional Races
NEBMX are part of the Northern Region BMX racing orginisation and are proud compete on the UK circuit with our friends from Preston, Bradford, Mid Lancs, Blackpool, Leeds, Cheshire and Manchester. Every year the Northern Region run a series of summer and winter Regional Races at tracks throughout the North. The ‘regionals’ are most peoples first taste of full on BMX racing and the touring event visits all corners of the North allowing riders to compete on both an individual and team basis.
Regional racing offers the chance for all riders of all abilities to compete and earn the vital ranking points that allow them to race at a national level during the British Championships. In addition the Novice class allows riders who are new to the sport a chance to try their hand against their peers.

Regionals tend to be ran in a moto format where riders compete against people in their age group over three heats. The fastest riders then race off in semi finals and onto the final for a share of the overall points. As with all BMX racing groups (and motos) are divided by age as follows :

To enter a regional all you need is a suitable bike and safety kit similar to that discussed in our FAQ section above. You will need to obtain a race license from British Cycling to enter all of the above categories excluding the Novice and Old School classes. These categories are cheap, accessible and a good taster for anyone wanting to try their hand at racing.
