Ben Featherstone

AGE: 10 years (D.O.B 16thJuly 1999).
STARTED BMX WHEN: I joined NEBMX almost 3 years ago during September 2007 when I was 7 years old.
REASON: Since the age of 3 I have always rode a bike and went regularly to Hamsterley Forest. I was eager to join any sort of club that involved bikes and by chance we were given the NEBMX website by a guy from North East Freeride Association (NEFA). My dad also rode a BMX in the 80’s and he was my inspiration.
WHAT YOULIKE MOST ABOUT BMX: Making friends from all over the country, travelling, learning new skills to tackle challenging obstacles and jumping high.
HIGHLIGHT: Having the opportunity to travel to Belgium in January 2010 to compete in an international competition.
ACHIEVEMENTS: It has got to be Belgium! On Day 1 I made it through to the QF then SF, but collided on the 1st berm so didn’t make the final. My overall position was 16th out of 56 riders.
CLASS: 11 year old boys expert for 2010.
BIKE: My bike is a custom built Expert black Crupi with carbon bombshell forks and handle bars, white profile hubs and Rhythm rims, Crupi rhythm cranks, Chris King headset, Crupi chain ring, Profile Stem and Shimano do pedals and DXR Brakes.
HOBBIES: I spend most of my free time riding my street bike, race bike and mountain bike for extra practice, visiting the local skate park and riding trails to improve my jumping skills and to help with my technique. I also enjoy riding on my JD Bug Scooter and going to the GYM.
WHO DO YOU ADMIRE: It has got to be Sam Willoughby without a doubt.
WHY: He has a brilliant technique, stays focused, takes the sport seriously and always believes in himself.
PLATE NUMBER: No. 16 for 2010 as this was my position in the NATIONAL Series even though I injured myself and could not complete all races.
FAVOURITE TRACK: My TOP three favourite tracks have definitely got to be Manchester, Yeadon and Cheddar. I really can’t decide on the BEST.
OBJECTIVE: I aim to be in the top 8 in the National and British Championship Series for 2010
